kNOwtrash is our collection of more than 1000 contemporary recycled artefacts sourced from Africa, Asia and the Americas. kNOwtrash is available both for exhibition and as a potent learning resource.

Everything in the collection was once something else. Recycled rubber, paper, metal, glass, plastic and textiles have been reused and remade into inventive, useful, and often beautiful, objects.

We are Neil Thomson, film editor and photographer, and Ruth Thomson, educational author and consultant. Our passion is to share the stories behind the making of recycled objects, using everyday trash that most of us dispose of rather than seeing as a valuable, sustainable resource.
